SABA DC5000 in Action

Christian Berger

Bildschirmtext (BTX) was an early online Service of the German postal service (Post). I will demonstrate a DC 5000 Terminal for this which was meant to be used with normal home TV sets. The vision was to bring a terminal into every home to allow everyone to use computers without having to maintain one.

You can find the software running on the server as well as the hardware used to connect to it here.

You can get get more info on it in a Talk I held at the Hope 2020 https://archive.org/details/hopeconf2020/20200729_1800_Bildschirmtext.mp4
